This was my Cheeseland stop on 09/04/12 and I played from the blue tees at 72.5/132/6780. The black tees play close to 7400 which is just too much golf course for me so I opted for these tees and put together a decent score. The course is on some old rolling farmland that has been turned into a housing development. The course had an open, linksy feel to it with very few trees. The course had wide fairways with some parallel holes which made it nice to track down a missed tee shot. Most of the other trouble off the tee was fescue where the ball was able to be found. The difficulty came from uneven lies in the fairways, a couple long holes, a few hazards, and some blind shots. The course featured a little elevation change due to the rolling hills and holes #7 (241 par 3 downhill with a hazard left) and #9 (602 par 5) were very long and tough. The course kept me a little off balance when picking lines off the tee as some fairways disappeared from view which did not always allow me to swing confidently. There were blind shots on #2, #3, #5, #6, #8, and #12 which were a few too many for my liking, but I certainly would play here again if given the chance as they did not beat me up too bad. The 8th is a shorter par 4 with a great design, I took the conservative play off the tee with a hybrid and ended up with a blind 2ndshot when a driver or 3 wood on a better line would have given me a good view of the green. The course was very green, in great shape, and had smooth greens when I played. Because the greens held approaches and did not have very many huge slopes I feel that I was able to put together a decent round even letting it slip towards the end. The closing stretch of holes is good with #16 being a mid-length par 4 with water in play and #17 is a long par 3 with more water in play. Because homes are going up there was some construction noise on the back which I noticed and the homes took away from the course aesthetics. I typically do not let the staff affect my opinion of a course, but the staff here was very rude. I guess this place was private and went semi-private so that might explain the attitude, but for $71 the staff should have at least acknowledged me a little more politely when I entered the proshop. I would not be back often if I lived in the area due to the high mid-week price, but I really enjoyed the condition of the course and there was a good mixture of scoring and testing holes.
